The local community in Kinvara and across South Galway has been praised for supporting the family of Stephen Ward, who was missing in Malaysia for over a month.
The Galway man was found this week safe and well and has been reunited with his loved-ones.
Minister Ciaran Cannon said he was delighted to have received a call early yesterday morning from Ireland’s Ambassador Eamon Hickey in Kuala Lumpur confirming that Stephen had been found safe.
The Galway East TD paid tribute to Stephen’s family, who, ‘despite enduring several weeks of worry and uncertainty, have never given up hope of finding Stephen and bringing him safely home’.
“I also wish to pay tribute to the support of the local community in Kinvara, the untiring efforts of my colleague Councillor Joe Byrne, and the people from across South Galway and Ireland who have offered Stephen’s family active support, prayers and good wishes.
“The most important thing now is that Stephen has been found safe and well and can be reunited with his loved ones,” he said.
