Galway City Council has approved plans for a seven storey waterfront apartment building close to the docks.
Planning permission has been granted for a building with 18 apartments facing onto the Lough Atalia Road.
This will consist of 12 two bedroom apartments and 6 one-bedroom units, including two penthouse apartments on the top floor.
The site is located in the undeveloped area to the rear of Forster Street House, a protected structure.
The development will be served by 19 car parking spaces, along with 34 bicycle spaces. A new access point will be created onto the Lough Atalia Road.
Planning permission was granted by the city council with a total of 30 conditions attached.
One of these stipulated that the apartments may not be used for short-term letting.
