Galway City Council has announced its intention to seek planning permission for 71 social houses on the western outskirts of the city.
The council intends to build 71 houses, ranging from one to four bedroom units and including traveller specific accommodation, at Keeraun on the Ballymoneen Road.
The proposed housing would consist of 4 one-bedroom units, 34 two-bedroom homes, 22 three-bedroom houses, 3 four-bedroom units, and 8 Traveller Appropriate Accommodation units.
Other works involved in the project will include associated carparking and bicycle parking, green spaces & landscaping, connection to existing services and all ancillary/enabling site development works.
The City Council has given notice that it intends to make a planning application to An Bord Pleanála for these social houses.
The plans, including a Natura Impact Statement and Environmental Impact Assessment Screening Report will be available to inspect at city hall during the week from September 6 through to October 18.
Public submissions related to the plans can be made to An Bord Pleanála for a period during the application project.
