An online fundraiser has been set up this week to raise money for new premises for the Oranmore Men’s Shed.
The men’s shed is a non-profit organisation which promotes and protect the well-being of men in the community on a physical and mental level.
But the current premises have become so run down that the group is being prevented from doing some of its most important activities.
Jessica Lavery, who organised the fundraiser, said that because of the substandard nature of the premises, and the inability to provide proper ventilation, they desperately need new premises to continue to operate safely.
“We really hope that 2022 will bring this to fruition,” she said.
“Our organisation is part of the wider ‘men’s shed’ community-based project, where men can come together to learn, share skills and make long-lasting friendships together.
“We really hope to raise sufficient funds to purchase a new shed to continue our much-loved community group in Oranmore.”
