Construction works on the new outpatient building at Merlin Park Hospital will begin in the next two weeks.
Local TD Sean Canney, who received confirmation that the works are to begin in March, said the facility will provide outpatient facilities in line with the best international standards.
The building is designed to improve patient access, flow, achieve segregation of patients and improved safety for patients.
The project will begin construction in the coming weeks and will alleviate pressure at the UHG including access and car parking for patients.
“It is important that healthcare facilities are delivered in a timely fashion in order to be able to deliver the best care possible for the region,” said Deputy Canney.
