University Hospital Galway is the second most overcrowded in the country for the second day in a row today.

As of this morning there were 44 patients on trolleys at UHG according to figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation.

This accounts for 10% of all patients in acute hospitals in Ireland who don’t have a bed this morning.

At Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe there are a further 12 patients admitted without a bed today.

The only hospital in worse shape than UHG today is UH Limerick, where there are a staggering 81 patients on trolleys.

Overall, the INMO has recorded 438 patients on trolleys in emergency departments and wards around the country.
