There are less than ten people being treated for COVID-19 at University Hospital Galway according to the latest figures from the HSE.
As of Friday night there were just eight confirmed cases at UHG, with another three at Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe.
However, there were also a further six suspected cases at University Hospital Galway for which test result were being awaited, and two at Portiuncula.
The number of critically ill COVID-19 patients in Galway has also continued to fall, with the number in intensive care steadily dropping.
There were just three patients in the ICU at University Hospital Galway as of Friday evening, while the Portiuncula ICU was empty of COVID patients for the second day in a row.
Nationwide there were 401 people hospitalised with COVID-19 in Ireland, of whom 99 were in intensive care.
A further 13 new cases were reported in Galway on Friday, out of 522 in the country. Nine additional deaths related to the disease were also notified yesterday.
