Fifty-five patients are waiting on trolleys at Galway’s public hospitals, according to the latest data from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO).
Of the patients in Galway waiting for a bed at 8am this morning, 32 were at Galway University Hospital and 23 were on trolleys at Portiuncula Hospital.
The INMO data shows that there are 477 patients on trolleys in hospitals across the country – the highest number since the start of the pandemic.
University Hospital Limerick is the worst affected hospital in the State with 87 people waiting on trolleys for a bed.
Forty-seven of the patients at UHL were waiting in the emergency department.
