46 patients on trolleys at University Hospital Galway

Forty-six patients are waiting on trolleys at University Hospital Galway today – the second highest number in the country.

Only University Hospital Limerick has more patients on trolleys, with 88, almost double that of UHG.

Portiunucla Hospital in Ballinasloe has a further ten people waiting for a bed today.

UHG has the third highest number of people who have tested positive for COVID-19 in the State with 36, with four confirmed cases in ICU.

Nationally, 570 people are in hospitals with the virus as of Tuesday evening. The latest HSE data shows that of those, 53 are in critical care units.

As of Tuesday evening, Portiuncula Hospital has just one patient with the disease.
