Over €50,000 has been granted to Coiste Hall Éinne for the first stage of refurbishment works for the Carraroe community centre.
The Committee plans to develop the hall and surrounding site as a Centre for Art and Heritage, with a focus on the Irish Language, culture, art, heritage, and activities for young people.
The funding granted this week will be used to appoint consultants to carry out the design work for the necessary refurbishments and reconstruction of the hall.
Minster of State with responsibility for the Irish Language, the Gaeltacht, and the Islands Joe McHugh has has allocated a grant of €54,124 to Coiste Halla Éinne for this purpose.
“I hope that this grant will help this active committee to advance the project,” said Minister McHugh, “This will provide this strong Gaeltacht community with a wonderful facility in future and it will certainly attract visitors to the region as well.”
The grant comes falls under the Community and Language Supports Programme of the government’s Action Plan 2018 – 2022 for the Irish Language that launched in June.
