Gardaí have released new information about a vehicle of interest in the investigation into the discovery of a woman’s body in Roscommon on Monday.
The body of a woman in her 50s was found on lands at Curraghaleen, Co. Roscommon (near Athlone) on Monday afternoon.
The body was removed to the mortuary at University Hospital Galway for a post-mortem examination by the Deputy State Pathologist.
A senior investigating officer (SIO) has been appointed to lead the investigation and an incident room has been established at Athlone Garda Station. A family liaison officer (FLO) has also been assigned to provide support to the family.
The investigation is ongoing and Gardaí are appealing to the public for information.
Gardaí are particularly interested in the movements of a silver 08G registered Peugeot 207 on Saturday, December 28 between 11am and midday.
The car is understood to have travelled from Beechville estate, Athlone onto the N6 motorway (west bound) from junction 11 to junction 13 before continuing on the R362 from Monksland to Bealnaulla.
Motorists who travelled along these routes within this timeframe are asked to provide Gardaí with dash-cam footage.
