Gardaí are investigating after a body was discovered on the coastline in south Galway yesterday.
A walker out on the coast at Doorus, north of Kinvara, found the body around 11:30am on Tuesday morning.
The remains, understood to be that of a female, have been removed to the mortuary at University Hospital Galway.
The local Coroner was notified and the Office of the State Pathologist have been requested to conduct a post-mortem examination.
Gardaí said in a statement that “Efforts to identify the deceased are ongoing and the outcome of the post-mortem will determine the course of the Garda investigation.”
