Gardaí are appealing to the public for information that may help to locate Cathal Whelan who has been missing in Clifden since earlier this week.

The 23 year old Leitrim man has been missing since Tuesday evening when he was last seen socialising in Clifden town.

Cathal is described as being 6 foot, with a slim build, short brown hair and a beard.

When last seen he was wearing a grey jumper, grey chino trousers and runners.

Originally from Carrigallen in Co. Leitrim, Cathal Whelan has been living and working in Clifden.

Searches for the missing man took place on Friday and Saturday and his family have appealed to the public on social media.
