UHG and Merlin Park Hospital have become the first hospitals outside of Dublin to let patients pay their bills online.

Galway University Hospitals, which includes UHG and Merlin Park, have added an online payment service to the Saolta hospital group website.

Patients at either hospital will now have the option to pay their hospital bill from home using a credit or debit card.

To complete the process all that’s needed is the invoice number from the hospital bill and your details.

Dermot Sheriff, Finance Department, Saolta University Health Care Group said, “We hope that the addition of this facility will make it more convenient for patients to pay hospital charges.

“Patients can still pay by post or in person as they traditionally could and this new facility gives them a further option. We have developed this system to the highest internet security standards so patients can be assured that their data will be protected at all times in the payment process.”

The online payment function can be found on Saolta’s website here.

Galway University Hospitals are the first hospitals in Ireland outside of Dublin to give patients the option of paying their bills online.

Though this service is currently only available for patients at UHG and Merlin Park, it is planned to shortly make it available for all Saolta hospitals.
