Galway East TD Seán Canney has expressed concern that the Department of Education have refused to grant aid the construction of a Sports Hall at Seamount College Kinvara.
The Independent TD said that in this era of sport, exercise and wellbeing are all part of the educational experience.
“It is incredible that Seamount College with a student roll in excess of 575 pupils is being denied funding for this sports hall facility,” said Deputy Canney.
“I have received confirmation from the Minister that the Sports Hall is not a Department priority which is disappointing for the students, staff and Board of Management.
“This project is a basic requirement, and I will continue to put pressure on the Government to deliver.”
