Christmas Eve Mass at Galway Cathedral will be broadcast live throughout Ireland and Europe to millions of people this year.

The 11pm mass at Galway Cathedral will be carried on RTÉ in Ireland and various European channels on Christmas Eve, as well on the Eurovision Network open to all 44 countries in Europe.

Everybody is welcome to attend this Mass but the congregation has to be in their seats by 10:45pm in order to facilitate the broadcast 11pm start.

Christmas Carols will be sung by the Cathedral Choir in the half-hour before the ceremony gets underway, with Bishop Brendan Kelly as the chief celebrant.

“There will be carols and the spirit of Christmas will well and truly be alive in the Cathedral,” explained Fr Martin Whelan.

“It is incredible to think that millions will be looking in on Galway this Christmas Eve,” he added.
