Galway businesses have been encouraged to apply for the Enterprise Ireland pilot Online Retail Scheme which opened for applications this week.
The new scheme will award grants ranging from €10,000 to €25,000.
The €1.25m fund is targeted at online retailers and will remain open for six weeks, with the application deadline at 3.00pm on Wednesday, 5 December.
Galway East TD Ciaran Cannon urged Galway’s businesses to apply to the scheme to help increase their sales and expand their customer base and reach.
Minister Cannon explained: “The purpose is to support online retailers to enhance their online sales capabilities in order to increase competitiveness and subsequently scale their businesses particularly in international markets.
“The retail sector is vital to Galway’s economic interests and many retailers are facing increasing international competition through the growth of online retailing.
“Thus, it is important that we encourage sustained growth of the retail sector in Ireland by providing the mechanisms with which retailers can actively develop wider offerings online.”
