The allocation of funding this week to address the ongoing issue of road flooding north of Ahascragh has been welcomed as good news for locals.

Minister for Public Works Kevin Moran announced this weeks that €38,250 is being provided by the OPW to address road flooding between the Ahascragh and Kilglass National School.

Galway  Roscommon TD Denis Naughten said that that this is extremely welcome news for people who regularly use this busy stretch of road.

“The flooding problem close to Quigleys garage was a serious road safety hazard and the funding from the Office of Public Works will provide for gully’s and piping to take the water off the road” said Denis Naughten.

The Independent TD added that while this is a small project “it will be of significant benefit to all those who use this very busy section of road just outside Ahascragh”.

Deputy Naughten thanked Minister Moran and Galway County Coumcil for working to have this issue addressed.
