Youth Clubs in Galway will benefit from a 12 percent increase in funding to the main local club grant scheme.

Galway West TD Seán Kyne confirmed that under the Youth Club Grant Scheme in 2019, €128,497 will be allocated to youth groups in Galway and Roscommon.

The increased funding will help youth clubs in Galway reach a wider community of people and enhance the services they offer.

“These groups are volunteer-led and do a huge amount of good for our communities around the county,” Deputy Kyne said.

“I have personally heard many accounts from young people of how their local youth group has encouraged their interests and developed their skills and talents while being a source of fun and something to look forward to in the week.”

This made them well worth the increased funding support he said, adding that, “their impact is massive and this support is well deserved.”

Applications are now open to any youth club in Galway which wants to receive backing under the grant scheme.

The Galway Roscommon Education and Training Board will be responsible for managing applicants to the scheme.
