A new Status Yellow weather warning issued by Met Eireann is in effect in Galway today after a similar warning issued Friday was cancelled.
The wind warning forecasts that throughout Sunday sustained winds of 50-60km/hr can be expected, with gusts reaching up 100km/hr.
The weather warning covers all of Connacht, as well as counties Cavan, Monaghan, Donegal, Dublin, Kildare, Longford, Louth, Wicklow, Offaly, Westmeath, Meath and Clare.
During the time of the warning, which will be in force until 6pm this evening, Met Eireann is warning that “thundery downpours” can also be expected.
Galway’s weather is expected to be mostly overcast today, with some sunny spells later in the evening.
Lowest temperatures expected tonight of 12 to 13 degrees Celsius.
Monday will be dry, with intermittent sun coming out from behind the clouds, and highest temperatures of 17 to 18 degrees.
But conditions on Tuesday will take a turn for the worst, with heavy rain forecast throughout the day in Galway.
