Galway City Council is removing two Prior Warning notices at Ballyloughane and Grattan beaches after water quality tests came back with good results.
The council placed the notices at the two beaches on Friday in anticipation of possible bacterial contamination due to heavy rain at the weekend.
Water samples were taken from both on Monday, the results of which have come back today.
The city council said today that it is “pleased to confirm that the samples meet the requirements for excellent water quality”.
Ballyloughane beach was one of five in Ireland declared to have ‘poor’ water quality in 2019 in the latest annual Bathing Water Quality report from the EPA released in late May.
