Met Eireann has issued a warning for weather conditions that will increase the risk of potato blight in Galway in the mid-week.
The status yellow environmental warning states that conditions in western and northwestern counties on Wednesday evening through to Thursday carry a risk of blight.
The warning issued by Met Eireann applies to counties Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Sligo.
Temperatures on Wednesday are expected to hit the high teens on Wednesday, and rain is also forecast through the day.
Potato blight is caused by a fungus called Phytophthora infestans that spreads through the air and thrives in humid weather.
Its symptoms include patches of brown freckles on leaves with a yellowish border, dark patches on tubers, and potatoes rotting into soggy masses.
