Atlantic Technological University Galway will delight kids with two ‘mathemagical’ shows next weekend for Maths Week 2022.
Steve Sherman’s internationally acclaimed “Edutaining mathemagical” show promises to shine a new spotlight on maths, magic, and his ability to combine both.
His presentations involve audience participation and have been known to make students smile uncontrollably.
Event co-ordinater and Maths lecturer Dr Aoife O’Brien, Dept of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, says: “We are delighted to welcome primary school children and second-level pupils to our events on 21 October. Teachers, we urge you to book as soon as possible as places are limited.”
“There will be goodie bags and refreshments on the day and students can avail of a tour of the engineering facilities, assisted by student ambassadors. The event is being sponsored by our School of Engineering and the School of Science”.
The first show is for secondary school students (1st and 2nd years) and runs from 10:30 am to 11:30 am. The second show, for primary school children (4th to 6th class) runs from 1pm to 2pm. Both will take place in Theatre 1000 at the Galway city (Dublin Road) campus.
Teachers are advised to register their school’s interest by emailing ATU Maths lecturer Dr Aoife O’Brien aoife.obrien@atu.ie and/or tel. 091 742049.
