A gaelscoil in Athenry is set to benefit from new funding for additional facilities, Minister for Education Joe McHugh has confirmed.
Toilet facilities at Gaelscoil Riada in the town will be upgraded as a result of the investment.
Minister Ciaran Cannon welcomed the confirmation, saying that investments such as this are vital to ensuring school facilities are kept refurbished to modern standards and the optimum level.
The East Galway TD said: “I’m pleased to note that Athenry’s Gaelscoil Riada is to receive further investment in its facilities with the approval from the Department of Education and Skills for the upgrading of toilet facilities at the Gaelscoil.
“Investments such as this are vital to ensuring that school buildings are upgraded to modern standards and the optimum level for students and staff and I welcome this continued investment in our school facilities in East Galway.”
The Fine Gael TD added: “The Budget 2020 investment includes a capital allocation for new, bigger and more energy-efficient school buildings (and third level facilities) with a €922m budget for 2020 under Project Ireland 2040.”
