A fundraising campaign has been set up to raise money to improve facilities at Ballymacward National School in East Galway.
The Board of Management and the Parents’ Association have organised the fundraiser to help update its facilities to meet the needs of the current students and the generations to come.
So far, over €5,000 has been raised for St. Peter and Paul National School out of the ultimate goal of €35,000.
A large General Purpose room was recently built at the school, and this now needs to be kitted out to the highest possible standard to provide a range of extra-curricular activities.
They also need to extend the canopy which provides a vital outdoor link between classrooms allowing students to move easily irrespective of weather conditions.
The school, built in 1974, has recently been granted planning permission for new bus and car parking facilities and works include footpaths, public lighting and all associated site works. This will provide safer designated drop off and pick up areas for both buses and cars.
Completing this development is a monumental task especially in the current environment. As school finances are tight, they need to raise an additional €35,000 in order to complete this development.
