Plans for the construction of a new school building for Bullaun National School have moved forward in the new year.

Approval has been given for the national school to seek planning permission and prepare tenders for the construction of the new building on a site behind Bullaun Church.

Galway East TD Ciaran Cannon said that he has been working with Principal Fergal Connaire and the BOM at the school to advance this project, and that the have received confirmation of approval to move ahead from Minister for Education Joe McHugh.

When completed the new school building will have eight classrooms for primary level students in the east Galway village.

“This is a very welcome development,” Ciaran Cannon said, “there’s no going back now, and we will see construction getting underway in the latter half of this year.”

The Fine Gael TD offered his thanks Principal Connaire for his “hard work in getting us to this stage”.
