Revenue officers have seized €4,500 worth of ecstasy which was bound for Galway and Roscommon during routine operations.

The ecstasy was discovered yesterday in two packages from the Netherlands at Dublin Mail Centre, with the invaluable assistance of Revenue detector dog Bailey.

Investigations into the seized packages are ongoing, with a view towards prosecutions.

On the same day 7.kg of cannabis with an estimated street value of €142,000 was seized at Portlaoise Mail Centre.

The cannabis was found concealed in two packages from the US and Canada as a result of standard profiling.

The illegal drugs were bound for addresses in Dublin in one parcel labelled ‘Toys’ and the other as ‘Wine Glasses’.

These seizures are part of Revenue’s ongoing operations targeting drug importations.
