Over €933,000 in funding has been announced for four outdoor adventure projects in Co. Galway.
The investment will go towards walking and cycling projects in Woodford, Loughrea, Portumna and Letterfrack National Park.
Welcoming the funding, Galway East TD Anne Rabbitte said that the investment makes these places even more attractive destinations for adventure tourism.
“These projects will benefit people of all ages and abilities for generations to come. Outdoor pursuits have become an even bigger part of all of our lives over the past two years,” said Minister Rabbitte.
“Take, for example, the development of a new multi-use €2.4km leisure route and sculpture trail in Portumna, which is being allocated €499,585.
“This will make an amazing difference to the town and further bolster its offering to tourists.
“Through this Fund, we are developing and enhancing the fantastic natural amenities in our rural communities so more and more people can access and enjoy them.
“These projects, when complete, will make these rural towns an even better place to live, work, visit and raise a family.”
