galway funding for flood works in oranmore

Funding of €12,600 for minor flood mitigation measures in Cregganna, Oranmore, Co. Galway has been approved, Galway West TD Hildergarde Naughton confirmed today.

“My colleague, Kevin Boxer Moran TD, Minister of State for the Office of Public Works and Flood Relief, has today informed me that minor flood mitigation works in Cregganna, Oranmore, have been approved,” she said.

“The purpose of the scheme is to provide funding to Local Authorities to undertake minor flood mitigation works or studies to address localised flooding and coastal protection problems within their administrative areas.

“The scheme generally applies where a solution can be readily identified and achieved in a short time frame.

“This is good news for the local community.

“Though only minor in nature, I am very much aware of the damage, particularly in less urban areas, that isolated flooding can cause.

“These works, which include open and closed drainage works, will ensure that this particular location is no longer susceptible to flooding,” the Fine Gael TD added.
