Galway City Council has said that swimming at two Galway beaches is prohibited after unsafe bacteria were detected in samples taken from the water.
Swimming is not allowed at both Ballyloughane and Grattan Beaches after water sampling results returned elevated levels of Ecoli and Intestinal Enterococci.
The samples were taken on Monday 30 July and Wednesday 01 August.
Galway City Council’s current advice is “not to swim”.
Another sample has been taken today (2 August) and information will be released when results are received, possibly on Saturday 4 August.
