Heart and stroke charity Croí has announced that their eighth annual Night Run will take place on Friday, 7 October this year.
The event is returning to the Salthill Promenade for the first time since 2019, however the charity is also keeping a virtual option open for participants to run, job or walk from anywhere in the world.
All proceeds will go directly to supporting the Croí’s services thanks to the charity’s sponsor Irish Life Health.
Monies raised will support initiatives and programmes including Heartlink West, a free community helpline, and the Croí Courtyard Apartments which are free to families in need while their loved ones receive heart or stroke care.
All abilities and ages are welcome to join to run, walk or jog the 5km.
The run will be chipped timed, and all participants will receive a text with their time after the event.
Croí’s media partner, iRadio, will be joining them live on the Prom to get people going with music and entertainment from start to finish to ensure participants have a great experience.
Christine Flanagan, Croí’s Director of Fundraising, encouraged participants to take part at Salthill or in their own local area on 7 October at 8pm – or whatever time is suitable – and run, jog or walk 5 km in aid of the charity.
“People living with heart disease and stroke need our help now more than ever before, so we ask you to please join us from near or far and help us fight heart disease and stroke together,” she said.
“We’re delighted to have Irish Life Health onboard as our sponsor for the second year in a row, and long-time supporter iRadio as our media sponsor.”
Edel McDermott from Irish Life Health said they are delighted to partner with Croí for a second time to support people taking part in this 5k run or walk.
“At Irish Life Health, we’re really passionate about promoting the benefits of exercise and how it can help us all live healthier lives,” said Edel.
As part of the Irish Life Health sponsorship, Irish Life have also created a Croí Night Run challenge on their health and wellbeing app, MyLife.
The MyLife challenge gives everyone the opportunity to walk, run or jog 5km in a location of their choice and track it within the MyLife app from 7-8 October.
For every participant in the challenge, Irish Life Health and MyLife will donate €5 per participant to Croí up to a maximum of €5,000.
All MyLife challenge participants who track 5 km or more will go into a draw to win 1 of 10 €50 Adidas gift cards! The MyLife app can be downloaded here.
