Two of the men arrested in Galway in connection with an armed robbery this week have been charged, and are due before the courts today.
Three men in total were arrested in Galway on Monday, following an armed robbery at a store in Ferbane, Offaly that morning.
At approximately 6.40am Monday morning three men entered a convenience store in Ferbane armed with a number of weapons and forced the two female staff members to hand over a quantity of cigarettes, alcohol and cash.
The men left the scene in a dark coloured vehicle. Neither of the staff members required medical attention after the incident.
Two men, aged 26 & 19 years old, who were detained under Section 50 Criminal Justice Act, 2007 have been charged in relation to the incident.
They are due to appear before Athlone District Court this morning Wednesday 17th November, 2021 at 10.30a.m.
The 20 year old third man remains in Garda custody detained under Section 50 Criminal Justice Act, 2007.
Gardaà have appealed for any witnesses or those who may have information about this armed robbery to come forward.
Any person who may have witnessed any unusual activity on Main Street, Ferbane, Co. Offaly yesterday morning between 6.15am and 7am is asked to contact GardaÃ.
Gardaà are also appealing to anyone with camera footage (including dash cam) to make it available to them.
