Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to an assault in Mountbellew in the early hours of Sunday morning, which left a man seriously injured.
It is understood a male, aged in his 20s, was seriously injured during an altercation with another man in The Square, Mountbellew.
The assault happened at approximately 1:15am on the morning of Sunday, December 12.
The injured man in currently in Beaumont Hospital, where his condition is described as serious.
Gardaí are appealing to any person who may have witnessed this incident to come forward.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who was socialising in Mountbellew on Saturday night, December 11 and who noticed any unusual activity to contact investigating Gardaí.
Any persons who were in The Square, Mountbellew between 12.45am and 1.30am this morning, Sunday, December 12 should contact Gardaí.
