One man has been arrested following the seizure of €18,000 worth of suspected cocaine at a house in Galway City yesterday afternoon.
Gardaí attached to the Galway Divisional Drugs Unit carried out a search of a house in the Headford Road area of the city at approximately 1pm on Thursday.
During the course of the search Gardaí located a number of bags believed to contain approximately €18,000 worth of suspected cocaine.
These items were seized and one man in his mid-20s was arrested at the scene.
He was detained at the North Western Regional Garda Headquarters in Galway under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984, and was released without charge later that evening.
A file is now being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions. A Garda spokesperson said that investigations are ongoing.
