A second massive haul of cocaine was seized by Gardaí yesterday, in a follow up operation to Friday’s large scale discoveries in the west.

On Saturday Gardaí carrying out a follow up operation to Friday’s seizures found cocaine with an estimated street value of €779,450.

Leading up to this, Gardaí stopped a vehicle on the Corbally Road in Co. Clare shortly after 2pm on Friday.

During a search of the vehicle, Gardaí located approximately €10,000 worth of suspected cocaine.

A number of follow-up drugs searches were conducted in Limerick during the course of Friday evening.

During the course of these searches, approximately €406,000 of Cocaine, €140,000 worth of Heroin, €45,000 of Amphetamine, €42,852 of Diazapam Tablets and a large sum of cash was seized by Gardaí.

A total of five people were arrested as a result of these searches on Friday, four men and one woman.

One man in his 40s, who was among the five arrested, was before a special sitting of Limerick District Court on Saturday evening to be charged in relation to the seizures.
