Two drivers speeding in Galway were among the first caught by Gardaí in the early hours of national Slow Down Day.
Gardaí detected 123 drivers speeding in the first two hours of this nationwide traffic enforcement operation, up to 9am.
Among those caught was a car doing 78km/hr in a 50km/hr zone on the N6 at Ballinfoile.
Another driver in Galway was detected doing 78km/hr in a 60km/hr zone on the N63 at Mountbellew, Demesne.
Between 7am and 9am this morning Gardaí and GoSafe conducted speed checks on 24,922 vehicles around the country.
