Eight people have been arrested this morning in connection with a brawl which took place at a cemetery in Tuam in September.

Large numbers of Gardaí had to attend the scene of a violent brawl at the cemetery on Wednesday, September 22.

More than 30 officers were involved in breaking up the brawl, with the regional armed support unit and Gardaí from across the north west region called in.

Multiple people were treated for non-life threatening injuries at University Hospital Galway following the violent disorder.

Seven men aged from their mid 20s to their mid 50s have been arrested in connection with the incident today, as well as one woman who is in her mid 20s.

They are currently detained at various stations in the Galway Division under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
