University Hospital Galway has the highest number of people hospitalised due to COVID-19 today, new HSE figures show.
UHG has 78 COVID patients as of Monday evening at 8pm, while a further 11 people with the virus are at Portiuncula Hospital.
Six of the confirmed cases at University Hospital Galway is receiving treatment in the ICU, and one of the 11 confirmed cases in Ballinasloe is also in intensive care.
But despite the high numbers in hospitals in Galway and record cases recorded over the past week, the number of people hospitalised nationally with the disease fell below 1,000 yesterday.
A total of 997 people were in hospitals nationally with COVID at 8pm on Monday, down from 1,062 twelve hours earlier.
Of those, 92 were in ICUs across the country.
