University Hospital Galway is now tied as the hospital with the highest number of COVID-19 patients in the country in the latest figures.
There were 40 confirmed cases at University Hospital Galway on Wednesday evening, down from 44 the previous day, but still only matched by UHL.
At Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe case numbers remained the same at 11 confirmed cases.
There are seven COVID patients in the ICU in Galway, five in the intensive care unit at UHG and two at Portiuncula’s.
Nationwide there were 437 people hospitalised with the disease, of whom 86 have been admitted to intensive care units.
