New figures show that a total of nine people have died after being diagnosed with COVID-19 in Galway since the start of the pandemic.
The Central Statistics Office figures account for all deaths in the county related to COVID-19 up until 12 June.
Galway has one of the lowest death tolls in the country, with Donegal having four times as many deaths despite its smaller population.
The median age of the deaths in Galway is 84, whereas the median age of cases in the county is 38.
The number of cases in Galway remains 485 after today’s figures showed no increase. Only four cases have been reported in Galway since the start of the month.
The vast majority of deaths have occurred in the East with DUblin and Kildare being the worst affected.
Eighty-six people under the age of 64 have died after being diagnosed with the disease – but no deaths under the age of 45 have been reported.
