Just one COVID-19 patient in ICU in Galway

One person with COVID-19 is receiving care in the intensive care unit at University Hospital Galway as of yesterday evening.

There are no confirmed or suspected cases in Portiuncula’s ICU, while there are four COVID patients in total at the Ballinasloe hospital.

There are now seven people with the disease receiving care at UGH according to the latest HSE data – an increase of two on Saturday evening.

Across the Republic, 328 people diagnosed with Covid-19 were in hospitals at 8.00pm yesterday, of whom 68 were in intensive care units.

There are just three ICU beds between the Galway hospitals – two beds are available in the ICU at Portiuncula and one at University Hospital Galway.

Health officials reported an additional 604 cases of COVID-19 last night, as well as 13 further deaths related to the virus.

Of the 16 cases reported yesterday, 13 were in Galway. The 14-day incidence rate in the county is now 119.7 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
