There are fewer than 10 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Intensive Care in Galway’s hospitals according to the latest figures from the HSE.
As of 8pm on Monday there eight confirmed cases in the ICU at University Hospital Galway, with just 1 at Portiuncula Hospital.
However there are a further two suspected cases in Portiuncula’s Intensive Care Unit, for which test results were awaited.
Overall there were 40 people hospitalised with COVID-19 in as of Monday night, 34 at UHG and 6 at Portiuncula.
Nationwide there were 1,100 confirmed cases in Ireland’s acute hospitals, of whom 173 were in the ICU.
There were 4 deaths reported among COVID-19 patients in Intensive Care in the 24 hours prior, and 128 patients who were on ventilators to assist with breathing.
Yesterday there were a further 28 new cases reported in Galway, out 829 nationwide, as the number of fresh cases in Galway continues to fall.
