Galway Daily news 25 percent drop in COVID cases in Galway hospitals

There have been 54 further deaths related to COVID-19 reported by the Department of Health today, along with 1,006 new cases.

Galway has reported 46 new cases today, bringing the county’s incidence rate to 316.6 per 100,000 people.

There have been 817 cases of COVID-19 dereported in Galway over the past two weeks.

Of the deaths notified today 45 occurred in February, while 5 were in January and 4 remain under investigation health officials say.

Today’s deaths occurred in people aged from 48 to 104 years old, and the median age of those who died was 86.

There have now been a total of 105,939 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ireland, and 3,794 deaths related to the disease since the start of the pandemic.

Validation of data by the HPSC has resulted in the denotification of 7 previously confirmed cases.

As of 8am today, 1,032 COVID-19 patients are hospitalised, of which 173 are in ICU. There have been 40 additional hospitalisations in the past 24 hours.
