There have been 48 further deaths related to COVID-19 reported by the Department of Health today, along with 1,254 new cases.
Of today’s cases, 45 are in Galway. The 14-day incidence rate here is now at 480.9 cases per 100,000 people.
The deaths notified today were among patients between 30 and 99 years old, with the average of the disease’s victims being 82 years of age.
There were 1,518 COVID-19 patients in hospital in Ireland as of this afternoon, of whom 211 were in the ICU.
There have now been a total of 3,214 COVID-19 related deaths in the Republic of Ireland, and 193,892 confirmed cases since the start of the pandemic.
