Galway Daily news 25 percent drop in COVID cases in Galway hospitals

The Department of Health has reported 455 new cases of COVID-19 this afternoon and 14 additional deaths related to the disease.

Three of the deaths reported today occurred in April, while one is from March, six are from February and four occurred in January.

Health officials did not give a county breakdown of the cases reported today.

The median age of those who died was 72.5 years and they were aged between 55 and 90 years.

77% of the new cases are under 45 years of age and the median age of the 455 cases is 30.

There are now 208 people who have been diagnosed with COVID-19 patients in hospitals across the State, of whom 52 are in ICU.

As of last Thursday, 8 April, there have been 1,018,264 doses of COVID-19 vaccine administered in Ireland. Of those, 301,628 people have received their second dose.
