The Department of Health has reported 3,138 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 this afternoon.
As of 8am today, 643 COVID-19 patients are hospitalised nationally, of whom 118 are in intensive care units.
Dr Tony Holohan, the Chief Medical Officer, said that people who are going to get COVID in December are not infected yet.
“Their infection is not inevitable and there is still time to prevent it by small changes in our behaviour,” he said.
