The Department of Health has reported 284 new coronavirus cases in the Republic.

There are 53 people diagnosed with the virus in hospitals across the country, of whom 13 are in intensive care.

Today’s ICU figures are the lowest since September 15 – 279 days ago.

No figures were provided by health officials for Galway today and the Department of Health says that the daily figures could change as data is validated and updated.

Speaking on RTÉ News at One today, the HSE’s lead on the vaccine rollout programme said that people aged between 30 and 40 can expect to have received their second dose of a COVID vaccine between July and August.

He expects people in their 20s to be fully vaccinated by the end of September, should supply remain steady.
