Galway Daily news 25 percent drop in COVID cases in Galway hospitals

There have been a further 1,725 confirmed cases of COVID-19 reported by the Department of Health today.

As of this morning there 473 people in the country hospitalised with COVID.

Of these patients, 97 have been admitted to intensive care units for treatment.

In the latest figures for Galway’s hospitals from Saturday night, there were 34 cases at UHG and 12 at Portiuncula.

Six patients at University Hospital Galway and two at Portiuncula Hospital were in the ICU.

A total of 7,297,243 doses of COVID-19 vaccine had been administered in Ireland up to Thursday evening, with 3,735,655 people fully vaccinated.

This Bank Holiday weekend has seen many of the remaining public health restrictions lifted, with pubs and restaurants back to normal trading hours, and nightclubs allowed to reopen.
