The Department of Health has this evening reported 4,842 new cases of Covid-19 and nine further deaths related to the disease.
207 of the new cases are in Galway, taking the 14-day incidence rate to 688.6 cases per 100,000 people with 1,777 new cases reported in the county in the past fortnight.
This evening’s figures take the total number of confirmed Covid cases in the Republic to 140,727.
1,049 of the new cases are in Dublin, while 530 are in Cork, 514 in Waterford, 405 in Wexford and 247 in Louth.
As of 2pm today, 1,293 people with the disease are hospitalised, of which 119 are in ICU. There have been 102 additional hospitalisations in the past 24 hours.
There are 82 Covid patients at University Hospital Galway and six at Portiuncula Hospital, according to the latest data released by the HSE.
