There have been been 252 new cases of COVID-19 reported by the Department of Health today, but no further deaths due to the disease.
Of the cases reported today, just 5 are in Galway. The 14-day incidence rate here now stands at 63.6 cases per 100,000 population.
There have now been a total of 70,711 confirmed cases in Ireland, and the pandemic’s death toll stands at 2,022.
Validation of data by the HPSC has resulted in the denotification of two cases and one death, which are reflected in these totals.
As of 2pm today there are 289 COVID-19 patients hospitalised in Ireland, of whom 33 are in the ICU.
Of the cases notified today:
- 124 are men and 128 are women
- 65% are under 45 years of age
- the median age is 34 years old
- 88 in Dublin, 26 in Cork, 21 in Kilkenny, 16 in Louth, 16 in Mayo with 85 spread across another 20 counties
